A Floating Tent Card That Stands Up: Friendly Foliage + Brushed with Beauty DSP

Standing cards will always have our hearts, because they do the most… while using the same amount of paper as a regular card. This floating tent card is one of those layouts that looks fancy on a desk, feels special in someone’s hands, and still folds down for mailing like a well-behaved little overachiever.
For this one, we kept it clean and classy with the Friendly Foliage Bundle and the Brushed with Beauty Designer Series Paper. The soft, brushed pattern gives a warm, neutral background, and the crisp foliage silhouette adds that modern “I have my life together” look, even if we’re crafting in yesterday’s sweatshirt.
Why a Floating Tent Card Is Such a Good Idea
A floating tent card is a standing fun fold with a center panel that looks like it’s hovering inside a window. The cool part is the dimension—your focal piece sits slightly back from the front frame, so you get layers without turning the card into a bulky brick.
This design is also perfect when you want your designer paper to do the work. Brushed with Beauty Designer Series Paper has that soft, painterly vibe, so we didn’t need extra background stamping or a pile of embellishments. A few pearls, a clean sentiment, and we’re done.

Project Details & Inspiration
We started with a Secret Sea accordion base, which is what gives the card its stand-up structure. Once it’s folded, you get that stable “tent” shape that sits nicely for display, but still presses flat when you’re ready to mail it.
On the front, we layered the Brushed with Beauty DSP and then die cut the large window frame. Behind that opening, we added the “floating” panel—another piece of the same DSP—with a stitched detail layer and the bold foliage image stamped in Secret Sea. The contrast is what makes this card look sharp without needing extra colors.
We used the “You’re on my mind and in my heart” sentiment on a small stitched label, then tucked a tiny foliage piece behind it to echo the main image. A few pearls on the right side keep things balanced without turning into an embellishment situation.
On the back, we kept it clean with a simple “Sending Love” and a couple of soft stamped foliage accents in the corners. Plenty of room to write, and it still feels finished.
