A Sweet Valentine Card Using the Valentine Kisses Bundle

Tiny confession before we dive in: this card started because we wanted an excuse to use that bear again. You know the one that we've been using all this week; the sweet little bear from the Valentine Kisses Bundle that somehow manages to look bashful, proud, and slightly dramatic all at the same time. We pulled him out, added a bold pink panel, and before we knew it, this Valentine was happening whether we planned it or not.
This design leans into what we love most about Valentine cards—playful images, strong color, and a layout that feels intentional without being stiff. It’s cheerful, it’s giftable, and it has just enough texture and shine to keep your eyes moving around the card (which is always the goal).

Project Details & Inspiration
This card is anchored by that wide horizontal panel across the front, and we’re not mad about it. The Berry Burst Designer Series Paper instantly sets the tone and gives the card a confident focal point without overwhelming the rest of the design. Framing it with clean Basic White Cardstock in the back keeps everything grounded and lets the color do its thing without shouting.
The background Basic White Cardstock is embossed with the Hearts of Love 3D Embossing Folder, which adds interest without competing with the DSP. It’s one of those details you don’t fully notice at first glance, but once you do, it makes the card feel finished. We always love using texture like this when the layout is fairly clean, it adds depth without clutter.
Our little bear from the Valentine Kisses Bundle is popped up slightly and overlaps the patterned panel, which helps break up all those straight lines. He feels like part of the scene instead of just something plopped on top. The tiny birds sprinkled around the card add movement and a little extra sweetness (Kayla may have insisted on adding “just one more bird.” Nancy pretended to resist. We all know how that went.)
The sentiment sits right in the center on a stitched banner, keeping everything balanced. Using a clean banner shape lets the greeting stand out while still playing nicely with the busy pattern behind it. A few small rhinestones add just enough sparkle to catch the light without tipping into “over-embellished” territory.
Practical tip: When you’re working with bold patterned paper, let it be the star by keeping your other elements simple and intentional. Solid cardstock, subtle texture, and a clear focal image go a long way toward making the design feel polished instead of busy.
