Locking Star Gate-Fold "Thank You" Card with the Shining Stars Dies

Locking Star Gate-Fold "Thank You" Card with the Shining Stars Dies

Close the flaps and two stars nest together like a little latch! Open them and the stars pull apart, the big plaid star swinging out with the left flap and the "Thank you" star riding along with the right, to reveal "Dear friend" waiting inside. That's the whole magic of this gate-fold card, and it's easier than it looks: each star is glued to just one flap, and you place the second one with the card closed so they always line up!

Project Details & Inspiration

Locking Star Gate-Fold "Thank You" Card with the Shining Stars Dies

The card base is a piece of Old Olive Cardstock scored on each end, so the two flaps meet in the center. Each front flap gets a Secret Sea Cardstock panel embossed with the Swirls of Magic Embossing Folder, and inside, a Basic White panel is stamped with "Dear friend" in Secret Sea ink.

For the closure, cut the third and fourth largest stars from the Shining Stars Dies in both Old Olive Cardstock and A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper, and back each paper star with its cardstock twin so it's sturdy. Glue only the left half of the larger star to the left flap, with its point right where the flaps meet. Stamp "Thank you" in Secret Sea ink, die cut it into a star, and layer it on a slightly larger Secret Sea star with Stampin’ Dimensionals, then on the smaller paper star. With the card closed, glue only the right half of that star to the right flap, nested inside the big star, and let it dry completely before opening. Three Antique Pearls finish the front.
