There’s something really satisfying about a thank you card that feels intentional, not just “grabbed from the stack.” This one leans into that idea with a full aurora sky from the Lights of Aurora Designer Series Paper and a layered pine forest cut with the Light & Wonder Bundle. The result is a winter scene that does all the talking before the sentiment even kicks in.
We let the paper be the star here. That sweeping Northern Lights print sets the mood right away, and then the die-cut trees frame it like a little landscape painting. A simple “Thank You” on a stitched label is all this card needs on the front; no extra fuss, no overthinking, just a really pretty way to show appreciation.
The color combo does a lot of the work for you. Bold blues, deep purples, and crisp black silhouettes give the card a strong presence, while the Frosted Iridescent dots scattered across the sky and snow line add a soft hint of shine. It’s the kind of design that looks detailed, but once you’ve cut the pieces, assembly is very straightforward.
Project Details & Inspiration
The starting point for this card was that dramatic sheet of Lights of Aurora Designer Series Paper. Instead of trimming it down into skinny strips, we used it as a large background panel so you get the full sweep of the Northern Lights behind the trees. No ink blending, no sponging. Just trim, layer, and let the paper do what it does best.
To build the scene in front, we grabbed the coordinating dies from the Light & Wonder Bundle. The pine tree border is cut twice: once from Basic Black cardstock and once from Azure Afternoon cardstock that matches the card base. Overlapping the two layers on each side creates depth and gives you that forest-at-dusk look. A die-cut snowbank across the bottom ties the scene together and gives the stitched “Thank You” label a place to rest. A few Frosted Iridescent embellishments scattered across the sky and along the snow line mimic stars and reflections, without crowding the design.
