Lopsided Cascading Gatefold Card – A Fun Fold with a Twist using the Kintsugi Inspirations Suite

This Fold Has a Mind of Its Own—in the Best Way

You ever sit down to make a card and the project just takes on a life of its own? That’s exactly what happened here. What started as a typical gatefold turned into something completely different—and honestly? We’re not mad about it.

We’re calling this one the Lopsided Cascading Gatefold, and to our knowledge, this fold doesn’t exist anywhere else.

It’s got layers, it’s got movement, it’s got drama—and it all comes together with the stunning Kintsugi Inspirations Suite from Stampin’ Up! That suite’s gold accents and soft, abstract patterns really make this card shine.

And while the fold might look a little extra, it’s actually pretty beginner-friendly. So whether you’re a seasoned card-making queen or just dipping your toes into fun folds, this one’s totally doable.

Let’s Talk About That Kintsugi-Inspired Vibe

If you’ve ever admired the art of kintsugi—the Japanese practice of repairing broken pottery with gold—this suite really captures that spirit. The designer series paper has these beautiful metallic veins running through soft, modern color blocks, and the stamped florals are just chef’s kiss.

We kept the color palette cool with Night of Navy, Basic White, and bits of the Kintsugi DSP for contrast. A little gold goes a long way here—and those die-cut embellishments? They bring just the right amount of texture and shine without overpowering the card.

The front sentiment says “You inspire me,” which felt fitting for a card that kind of made itself, you know?

For this card, we used Night of Navy for the card base. Then we adhered layers of the new Kintsugi Inspirations Designer Series Paper and Misty Moonlight Cardstock. The sentiment from the coordinating stamp set was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink then die cut out using the coordinating dies.
