StayzOn vs Memento Tuxedo Black Ink

StayzYou know that moment when you stamp something perfectly — no missed spots, no double lines — and then you go to color it in and… smudge city? Yeah. We’ve all been there. And nine times out of ten, it’s because you used the wrong black ink.

Let’s talk about the two inks that cause the most “wait, which one do I use?” confusion: Memento and StazOn. They look kinda similar at first glance, but they’re basically opposites. Like a hot coffee vs. an iced latte — both amazing, just not interchangeable.

So grab your favorite drink, sit back, and let’s break down which ink pad you actually need for your next project.

Memento: The Chill Everyday Ink

Memento Tuxedo Black Ink is your go-to gal for everyday stamping. She’s reliable, low-maintenance, and plays nice with pretty much everything.

It’s a dye-based, water-based ink, which means it soaks into your paper and dries quickly. Basically, she’s the one you can count on when you want clean, crisp lines fast.

When to use Memento:

  • Coloring with Stampin’ Blends (or any alcohol markers)

  • Stamping sentiments and line art

  • Using photopolymer stamps on Basic White cardstock

Why we love her: Because she won’t smear when you color with alcohol markers! That’s the golden rule: Memento = alcohol markers. They’re besties.

What not to do: Don’t use Memento on vellum, window sheets, or glossy paper. It’ll just sit there, smudge around, and make you question your life choices.

StazOn: The Strong, Silent Type

Then there’s StazOn Jet Black Ink. She’s bold, she’s intense, and she’s not afraid of commitment. StazOn is a solvent-based ink, which means once she’s down, she’s not moving. Like, ever.

When to use StazOn:

  • Stamping on acetate, metal, glass, vellum, or glossy cardstock

  • Watercoloring or using water-based mediums

  • Anytime you need a permanent stamped image

Why she’s amazing: When you’re watercoloring, StazOn keeps your stamped lines perfectly in place. No bleeding, no smearing, no drama.

What not to do: Do not use StazOn with alcohol markers. Alcohol + solvent = chaos. Your image will bleed faster than your mascara during a sad movie.

Cleaning Up the Mess (the Right Way)

Here’s the deal, you can’t clean StazOn with your regular Stampin’ Mist. You need StazOn Cleaner to get that ink off your stamps.

And if you notice your clear stamps stain a little after using StazOn, don’t freak out. It’s totally normal. Think of it as your stamp’s little “I’ve been loved” tattoo.
